Best Frozen Yogurt in Spain!

We’ve never been huge fans of ice cream or frozen yogurt. But while in Girona this past September, it was just too hot not to get involved in the yogurt craze here in Spain. Literally, everywhere you go, there’s posters for ice cream (helado) or frozen yogurt. I took photos literally walking down one street of at least 5 shops right next to each other.

Ice cream boards are EVERYWHERE!

We passed this shop...

A fews stores down… there's another helado shop.

And then another… This is all on the same street, within walking distance.

By the time we saw the last shop, the kids were like, “Mom, can we have some ice cream please?” And so we decided that the next shop we walked passed we would walk into. Enter Llaollao, pronounced “yow-yow,” which serves just one flavor of yogurt.

Pronounced ‘low low’ 🙂

We ordered 2 small cups for Lou Lou and Jaf and let them choose their toppings. The first bite was sour or “tart” but then with the topping, it was sweet and crunchy.

As I watched them devour this beautiful masterpiece of flavor, I was tempted to get one of my own! It was literally the BEST YOGURT I EVER HAD, and the kids agreed!

Since that fateful day, we searched out every Llao Llao in Spain and ate it on a regular basis. This franchise is growing across Europe and I believe making their way to the USA.

Watch for it!

  1. It is already here Wendy !!!!!! I go to Kailua’s Yogurt Mama. You pick your yogurt, you fill it yourself with one or many types of yogurt. Then you have different stations of goodies to spruce up your yogurt. Love the different fresh fruit, depending what is in season. Then you have the chocolate toppings , then the gummy toppings sweet n sour & then the sprinkles. All very good you pay for it by weight, so it can get expensive !!!! Still yummy
