As I walked through Kapiolani Park for the Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of purpose and motivation. The sun was just starting to peek through the trees, and the energy in the air at Kapiolani Park today was palpable. Even though I was walking alone, I knew I was part of a larger community all coming together for the same cause.
I had only recently been diagnosed with diabetes, and it was a wake-up call for me. For years, I had been so careful about my health and making sure I didn’t develop the disease. But eventually, my crazy, stressful lifestyle caught up with me, and now I have to adjust. Participating in the Step Out Walk was one way for me to take control of my health and contribute to a cause that’s important to me.
Not only was it a fun and memorable experience, but it also allowed me to contribute to a cause that is close to my heart. I’m looking forward to doing more walks around the island and continuing to support the mission of the American Diabetes Association.
I’m grateful I spent the day walking, breathing, and appreciating being outdoors – celebrating Mother Earth. Lucky I live Hawaii –
