While taking grandma last minute shopping at the Toronto Outlet Mall we walked pass a food truck called Beavertails. What we learned from our family members living here was that Poutine and Beavertails are very popular food items with kids. So, of course we had to have some!
BeaverTails Pastry has been serving up their delightful delicacies since 1978. They are quite famous for their dessert, rightly called “Beavertails“, which is dough stretched to mimic the shape of a beaver’s tail that is deep-fried and topped with different spreads and candies.
After checking out their menu, we noticed they also served Poutine, another popular dish known to be from Canada and VERY Canadian. It is your basic french fries, topped with brown gravy and cheese curds. This fast food item can be found at many small diners, pubs and at national food chains like McDonalds, Burger King and New York Fries throughout the country. So we HAD to order this since we didn’t have any poutine yet! It was AWESOME, according to Jaf.
Lou Lou skipped the poutine and went straight for the beavertail. She said it reminded her of a malasada!! We had to order another one for Jaf and Daddy because Lou Lou and I ate the other one before they had a chance to even try it.
While reordering we ended up with this!
And that was even more yummy!! Deep-fried dough with ice cream and caramel sauce….
With our tummies satisfied we headed towards the mall. The kids wanted to have more poutine, but we had to go. I’m sure we’ll be back to the Beavertail truck when we revisit Canada again, it’s addicting!
